3 Signs Your Roof Needs To Be Repaired

Your roof helps protect your home from the elements, but if it's not in the best shape, it can be detrimental to your home, as it can no longer protect it. If your roof is damaged, even a slight bit, water will find its way into your home and the effects of the water damage can be very costly. There are signs to watch out for, that you should be aware of and pay attention to, that would indicate an issue that needs to be addressed. Read on for some of the signs of a roof issue that would need to be repaired.

1. Asphalt Granules On The Ground

You are going to see an asphalt granule loss from time to time, but if you see a lot of asphalt granules around your home, this could be a problem. Your shingles may not have been a good quality shingle, and they could be losing a lot of granules. The loss of granules means the roof is not as protected as it once was, and without the granules, water and other elements could be affecting your home. If you see a lot of asphalt granules around the perimeter of your home or in your gutter, call a professional roofer to inspect your roof.

2. Shiny Roof

The only roof that should ever appear to shine is a metal roof. If your asphalt shingled roof is shiny, it's not a good sign. This means that you've lost most of the granules from your roof and you're left with a shiny piece of tar paper, which will not be able to protect your roof for too long. You need to have your roof inspected if you see shiny portions of your roof and have the pieces replaced, or you may have to have your entire roof replaced depending on the damage.

3. Water Spots In Your Attic/Ceiling

If you have seen water spots in your attic or in the ceiling of your home, the damage is already done to your home and the culprit is more than likely a damaged roof. You should have your roof inspected immediately and have it repaired right away to prevent any further damage to your home. If you already have water damage, mold and mildew can begin to grow, and it will only worsen. Have your roof repaired immediately.

If you have noticed any of these signs, you should consult a professional roofer to have your roof repaired or replaced. Don't hesitate to have your roof inspected.
